more information?

What is Bichectomy?

The bichectomy is a surgical procedure, by means of which this adiposity or fat located in the cheeks is extirpated or removed, called bichat balls or bags described since 1732 as malar glands and 70 years later, in 1802, the French anatomist and biologist, Xavier Bichat, who defined that its structure is only fat.

The buccal fat pads correspond to these bags of bichat, they are the same, and their increased volume provides a rounded appearance of the cheek, which in some people can cause a round face appearance, it is important to define if the person requires to improve their overall appearance the removal of this area, or on the contrary it favors other alternative procedures such as cheek augmentation, improvement of the jaw contour, and even to liposuction of double chin, which in the same way all these procedures complement each other, depending on each particular case.

How is the procedure performed?

Bichectomy is a surgical procedure, completely ambulatory, performed through minimal incisions inside the oral cavity. This procedure can be performed under local anesthesia, or it can complement other procedures under general anesthesia, such as a cervicofacial lift, a facial contouring, or be complemented with a liposuction of the jowls.

PlasticSkin recommends this procedure to people with appropriate indications, not everyone is a candidate for this procedure.

What care should I take after the procedure?

Post-operative care includes a liquid diet at room temperature or cold for the first 24 hours, followed by a soft diet for one week, avoidance of intense physical activity for two weeks, adequate oral hygiene, antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs, depending on each specific case.

Initially an inflammation is expected that will give an exaggerated aspect of the volume of the cheeks, for a period of two weeks, managed with anti-inflammatory, and compression, is decreasing, the final thinning of the cheeks is expected up to 3 months approximately.

In PlasticSkin we offer you to perform this procedure with the use of laser technology reducing recovery times and possible complications.
